Body Care FAQ

What makes your tallow skincare different?

Not all tallow is created equal — and this is where our process truly matters.

We use suet, the nutrient-dense fat found around the kidneys, which is considered the highest quality source for tallow. It’s naturally rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, and closely mimics the structure of our skin’s own oils, making it incredibly nourishing and bioavailable.

Some products on the market today use trim fat — leftover scraps from various parts of the animal. While still technically tallow, it lacks the same purity, consistency, and nutrient profile as suet.

We believe what you start with matters — because your skin can feel the difference.

How is your tallow made?

We hand-render our tallow the traditional way — slowly, in small batches, over low heat.

This method preserves the delicate nutrients and integrity of the fat, resulting in a clean, stable, and deeply nourishing final product.

In contrast, some modern processes use high heat or chemical shortcuts to speed up production. While more efficient, these methods can degrade the quality of the tallow and strip away many of the skin-loving benefits.

Our approach is slower — but it’s intentional, and it’s worth it.

Where do you source your tallow?

We source our suet from a trusted local farm.

This means we know how the animals are raised, how they’re cared for, and where our ingredients truly come from. That level of transparency is something we deeply value — and something you can feel good about.

Sourcing locally also allows us to support farmers in our own community and stay closely connected to the land behind our products.

Why tallow for skincare?

Tallow has been used for generations — and for good reason.

Its fatty acid profile is remarkably similar to our skin’s natural oils, which allows it to absorb easily, support the skin barrier, and provide long-lasting nourishment without feeling harsh or synthetic.

It’s especially loved for dry, sensitive, or compromised skin — but truly benefits all skin types when used in its highest quality form.

Will tallow clog my pores?

For most people, no.

Because tallow is so compatible with our skin, it tends to absorb rather than sit on the surface. Many customers actually find that it helps balance their skin over time.

As with any skincare, we always recommend starting with a small amount and observing how your skin responds.

Why does your product feel different than others I’ve tried?

This often comes down to three things:

  • The use of suet vs. trim fat

  • Our slow, traditional rendering process

  • And our commitment to small-batch, intentional formulation

Lower-quality tallow can feel waxy, heavy, or sit on the skin.

High-quality, properly rendered suet tallow feels rich — yet breathable, absorbent, and alive.

Your skin knows the difference.

What else is in your products?

We keep our formulations simple and purposeful.

Alongside our tallow, you’ll find thoughtfully chosen ingredients like herbs, cold-pressed oils, essential oils (never synthetic fragrances), and other whole, skin-supportive elements.

Why support small-batch, local skincare?

Because it’s about more than what you put on your skin.

When you choose our products, you’re supporting:

  • Local farmers

  • Ethical sourcing

  • Traditional craftsmanship

  • A family-run business rooted in faith, care, and community

Every jar carries that story.

If you have a question not answered here, we’d truly love to hear from you. This space — just like our products — is built on connection, trust, and care. 🌿
